Abstract

The article analyzes scholarly approaches to the concept of digital forensics, revealing its content and significance within the system of forensic support for investigations in developed countries and in the Kyrgyz Republic. It substantiates the position that digital forensics is not an independent science but rather a direction in the development of traditional forensic science under conditions of digitalization. Active digitalization of governmental and social processes in the Kyrgyz Republic significantly influences the development of forensic science and investigative practice. With the widespread adoption of information and communication technologies, the methods of committing crimes, the forms of recording traces of criminal activity, and the methods of their forensic examination are being transformed. It is shown that digital traces and digital evidence acquire particular importance in the investigation of crimes, including cybercrimes, and require the adaptation of forensic methods in accordance with the norms of the criminal and criminal-procedural legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
